At Crosley Law, our expert Texas injury attorneys resolve cases very quickly, but the average car accident claim takes approximately 18 months to conclude. Thankfully, San Antonio has many resources that might help you during this difficult time while your case is under way. For example, you can call the 2-1-1 Help Line, a United Way resource that connects individuals with community resources.

Below are some other organizations and resources in and around San Antonio that may be able to help you and your family during the holiday season.

Blue Santa

The San Antonio Police Department’s Blue Santa program provides needy children with holiday gifts. To register, you must complete an application at an SAPD substation and provide copies of your driver’s license and your children’s birth certificates. Blue Santa typically accepts applications until December 1.

Elf Louise

Elf Louise’s mission is to deliver Christmas toys to needy San Antonio children. Their only criterion is that you are not able to provide toys for your children at Christmas. Applications are accepted from August 15 to October 1 each year, and you can ask your child’s school, your housing manager, or a social service agency you are working with for an application. Learn more about Elf Louise.

Family Assistance Centers

Operated by the City of San Antonio, these service centers offer San Antonio residents help with a wide variety of needs, including paying utility bills. Their representatives can also help you assess your eligibility for other government and community programs. For a list of Family Assistance Center locations, refer to their website.

Family Service Association of San Antonio

For over 100 years, this nonprofit organization has supported needy San Antonio families. Its diverse programs cater to seniors, parents, and job-seekers. It also offers financial empowerment programs that can help you control debt and manage your money.

During the holiday season, Family Service typically runs an Adopt-a-Family program and a holiday meal box program. For more information about eligibility and the registration process, contact the organization directly.

San Antonio Food Bank

If you’re struggling to put food on the table, San Antonio has numerous food banks and assistance programs. The San Antonio Food Bank serves 58,000 people in Southwest Texas each week and distributes 77,000,000 meals each year. It runs three community kitchens that serve meals, and it operates a food bank. And if you have a pet, they even offer a pet food program.

Salvation Army of San Antonio

The Salvation Army offers many programs for low-income families and individuals. They include its Angel Tree program, which provides gifts to children. The Salvation Army also offers food assistance and emergency financial assistance with utility and rent bills. Most programs are available year-round, but you can only register for the Angel Tree program in October.

H.E.B. Feast of Sharing

Unlike other food programs, the Feast of Sharing is an annual community holiday meal. You can learn more about the date and location of the Feast of Sharing on their website. In addition to a holiday meal, families can participate in arts and crafts projects and other activities. If you tell your VIA bus driver that you’re headed to the meal, your ride is free.

Catholic Charities

Catholic Charities serves diverse populations in the San Antonio area, including low-income individuals and families. The Guadalupe Community Center offers many resources, including a food pantry, clothes closet, and emergency financial assistance with utility and other bills. It also provides specialized support for San Antonio’s military families.

Toys for Tots

This popular U.S. Marine Corps Reserve program provides children in San Antonio and Bexar County with holiday toys. For the 2018 holiday season, you must complete an online application by the end of November.
