Yet another jury verdict has come down in favor of the victims who have suffered physically and emotionally as a result of the irresponsible, unethical, and reckless actions of Janssen Pharmaceuticals Inc. – a subsidiary of Johnson & Johnson.
Nicholas Murray’s claim—the fourth in a series of cases presented this year—alleged that Johnson & Johnson was aware of a link between gynecomastia (abnormal breast growth) and its antipsychotic drug Risperdal (risperidone) long before the warning label on the drug was updated to explain the true risks pertaining to this side effect. The jury in this case agreed not only that the drug was a primary factor in Murray’s abnormal breast growth but also that Janssen Pharmaceuticals Inc. failed to warn his doctors about the risk of gynecomastia associated with taking Risperdal. The jury awarded $1.75 million to the plaintiff.
Approximately 15,000 cases related to Risperdal are pending in Philadelphia County, and with confidential settlements as well as new jury verdicts in favor of Risperdal victims, more claims are sure to be filed to get justice and compensation for the dangerous and harmful practices of this pharmaceutical giant.
